Sneak Peek: Your Product Ops Team’s Wish List for 2025
Product Operations is a new function that is already earning a reputation as a force multiplier for alignment, efficiency, and innovation within organizations. But with great potential comes complex, sometimes unforeseen challenges. To better understand the state of Product Ops and the priorities shaping its future, we surveyed Product Operations professionals to uncover their biggest challenges, must-have tools, and emerging trends influencing the field.
What’s holding Product Operations teams back? What are they most excited about in the year ahead?
Only when you uncover what matters most can your organization align priorities, drive innovation, and stay competitive in an ever-changing product landscape. So, here’s a sneak peek of the findings.
Uncertain KPIs Among Biggest Pain Point
“Difficulty measuring success” and “Unclear roles and responsibilities” were the most frequently cited challenges among Product Ops teams, with each being selected by 55% of respondents as one of their top three concerns.
When asked “Which of these challenges would you most like to see resolved in 2025?”, the responses reinforced these findings. “Difficulty measuring success” was the number one challenge (29%) respondents hoped to eliminate, with “Unclear roles and responsibilities” a close second (23%).
Among large enterprises (organizations with 200+ employees), the answer was even more definitive. Half of respondents in this group selected “Difficulty measuring success” as the most pressing concern they want to fix in 2025.
AI’s Role in Revolutionizing Product Operations
Perhaps unsurprisingly, AI was cited as the biggest trend shaping the future of Product Ops in the next 1-2 years.
Anna Gasparyan, Senior Product Operations Manager at Picsart, had this to say to the question, “What changes do you hope to see in your organization’s approach to Product Operations in 2025?”
“There are a couple of areas that the Product Operations team will tackle in the upcoming year: Provide preventive insights to product teams which will help them to speed up the execution and product delivery. Make user and data insights available and accessible by building a knowledge base repository based on different sources (user research, customer insights, experiment learnings). Automate operational insights to track the progress of OKRs, initiatives, blockers.”
Anna’ vision highlights the transformative role AI can play in Product Operations. From automating operational insights to making data more accessible through knowledge repositories, AI is set to enable Product Ops teams to move faster, make smarter decisions, and empower product teams with proactive, data-driven insights. It’s no wonder 36% of respondents thought AI / automation in operations would be the biggest trend short-term.
